Confirmation Class

The Confirmation Class is a key part of the Catholic faith journey for teens and adults preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. This class helps participants grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith, deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, and prepare to receive the Holy Spirit in a special way.

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses.”
— Acts 1:8

Purpose of Confirmation Class

Confirmation is not just a one-time event — it is a sacrament that calls each person to live as a committed disciple of Christ. The Confirmation Class equips students with:

  • Knowledge of Catholic teachings, Scripture, and Church tradition
  • Understanding of the Sacraments and the life of the Church
  • Opportunities to grow in prayer, reflection, and discernment
  • Formation in service and leadership within the parish community

What Students Will Experience

During Confirmation preparation, students will:

  • Learn about the Holy Spirit and the gifts and fruits He brings
  • Explore the meaning and responsibilities of being a confirmed Catholic
  • Participate in faith-sharing, prayer experiences, and retreats
  • Reflect on how to live their faith in school, family, and community life

Sponsors and Family Involvement

Each student chooses a sponsor — a practicing, confirmed Catholic — to walk alongside them in their preparation. Families are encouraged to support, guide, and pray with their teen throughout the Confirmation journey.

Preparing for the Sacrament

The Confirmation Class is typically part of a multi-year faith formation program, ensuring that students are well-prepared to receive the sacrament with understanding, commitment, and joy. Class attendance, participation in parish life, and completion of service projects are key components of preparation.

“Fan into flame the gift of God that you have.”
